In Brighton, England in 1990, a bassist from Belfast recorded a version of the protest song Pharaoh House Crash. It was a year of heatwaves, raves and riots.
Pharaoh House Crash was also chosen as his artist name, because, as well as sounding like the music he was inspired by (reggae, house and punk) the song's depiction of strikes and riots reminded him of his childhood in Belfast, Ireland during the Troubles. Debut single, Epic Dream (about global warming) came out in 1993 and follow up, the Backlash EP was released in... 2020. Gidam (All the Way) is the most recent release by Pharaoh House Crash. The vocals were recorded in December 2021 in Khartoum, Sudan by Arthur Larie and Bastien Massa. All royalties go Enas and her friends, whose wonderfully potent protest chants, inspired the song. |
